Yes – the American Heart Association has taken me hostage!! Well, of my own free will. I’m so grateful to have a job that I love, but I have been working more than I ever thought possible. So what do I have to show for it you ask…?
I breathe, dream, and even workout to the thought of Heart Walk. On May 19, 2012, I will have the responsibility of helping host over 5,000 people who need to help us raise $465,000 for the 2012 Heart & Stroke Walk. No problem, right?
My consumption with work has deterred me from thinking about much else. What little social life I lead is dwindling, and my workout schedule could barely be noted in the calendar. I’m not complaining, I’m just stating the facts. So here is what I propose for leading a healthier and more active lifestyle – don’t overwork yourself!! Thankfully, I LOVE the organization and what we do. What other organization funds over $11 million in cardiovascular disease and stroke research in Oregon and SW Washington?! Seventy percent of Americans don’t get enough exercise, blaming a lack of time and motivation. Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women – claiming over 500,000 lives a year?
I urge everyone to see what I’ve been up to by visiting my page: www.pdxheartwalk.org. And, as always, thanks for listening
